WHAT IS BEE?
BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) is a government agency established on 1st March 2002, under the provisions of Energy Saving Act). The role of BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) is to establish some programs that will increase energy conservation and productive us age in India. The government of India has made it necessary for the BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) to provide rating for certain appliances in India beginning in January 2010. The BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) mission is to promote all the in-country delivery mechanism and provide energy efficiency bureaus in all the sectors of India if we talk about the BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) the main or basic objective of reducing policies and strategies with a goal in mind that to emphasis on self-regulation and market values
WHAT IS BEE Start Rating
BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) star rating is a labelling system that rates an appliance on the basis of their energy efficiency. Appliances that are sent for the labelling are labelled on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 stars indicating the highest amount of energy efficiency and 1 star being the lowest. According to these stars one can decide what product does he requires for himself. All the stars that are labelled on the appliance are based on standardized tests that measure the energy consumption of the appliance under specific conditions.
WHY DO BEE STAR RATINGS MATTER?
ENERGY SAVINGS:
Those appliances that are highly rated use to consume much less energy as compared to low rated appliance. This eventually help in reducing the average energy bills over time.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
After using all the appliance that are BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) star labelled by using the energy efficient appliances helps in reducing the greenhouse gas emission and helps in lowering your carbon footprint
COST-EFFECTIVE:
As we know that all the 5 star rated appliances are comparatively expensive, the saving on electric bills can offset the higher purchase of the appliance in a long run.
INFORMED DECISIONS:
BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) star labelling helps the customer to make an informed decision by providing clear and reliable information about the energy efficiency of the appliances.
HOW TO READ BEE STAR LABELS
BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) star labels provide detailed information about the energy efficiency of an appliance. Here is what you will typically find on a BEE star label:
STAR RATING:
The number of stars, with more stars indicating higher efficiency.
ANNUAL ENERGY CONSUMPTION:
An estimate of the amount of electricity the appliance will use in a year, usually measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh).
TECHNICAL DETAILS:
Information about the appliance’s capacity, model number, and other technical specifications.
BEE LOGO:
The official logo of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT APPLIANCE
When shopping for appliances, consider the following tips:
COMPARE RATINGS:
Look for appliances with higher star ratings within your budget. Even a difference of one star can lead to significant energy savings.
CHECK ANNUAL ENERGY CONSUMPTION:
Use the annual energy consumption figure to estimate how much you will spend on electricity for that appliance each year.
CONSIDER LONG-TERM SAVINGS:
Factor in the long-term savings on electricity bills when comparing the initial cost of the appliance. A higher-rated appliance may cost more upfront but will save you money over its lifespan.
LOOK FOR THE LATEST LABEL:
BEE periodically updates its standards, so ensure you are looking at the most recent labels for the latest information.

STAR RATING
A star rating, ranges from 1 to 5 in the ascending order of energy efficiency is provided to the products registered with BEE. The Star or Energy labelling is based on Standards that prescribe limits on energy performance (usually maximum use or minimum efficiency) based on specified test protocols.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY RATIO
Energy efficiency ratio is the ratio marked under the star rating EER is calculated by dividing a chillers’ cooling capacity (kW) by its power input (Watts) at full load conditions. The higher the EER, the more efficient the unit which means the product is more efficient in energy saving.
PRODUCT DETAILS
Just below the energy efficiency ratio there is a column representing the details about the product those details consist of
1. APPLIANCE DETAILS
2. BRAND
3. MODEL / YEAR
4. COOLING CAPACITY AT (100%)
5. COOLING CAPACITY AT (50%)
6. ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION
7. COMPRESSOR TYPE
8. HEAT PUMP
BEE REGISTRATION NUMBER
After the details about the product, we see the BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) symbol and just below the symbol that symbol is a registration number provide to them by BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) that proves the authenticity of the product.
